Ski NC - The Slopes are OPEN and Conditions are Great for Winter Sports

North Carolina Ski Resorts and Areas will ALL be open this weekend with great conditions from natural and man made snow. Check the individual websites for specific times and special events.

Slope and Resort reports as of 12-15-2017:


Appalachian Ski Mountain is  OPEN for the 2017-18 Season   Skiing 7 trails with 5 lifts on a base of 24-36 inches.   Ice Skating now open.   December 24 - Skiing with Santa; December 25 - Christmas Day SkiingASM will be open until Midnight every Friday and Saturday Night from December 9 - March 17.  1 PM - 10 PM.  Ski or Ride for only $10 on the first Sunday of each month (Dec 3, Jan 7, Feb 4, Mar 4) 1/2 night session is from 7:30 – 10 PM, purchase online and get an extra hour FREE - 6:30-10PM.



 
Beech Mountain Ski Resort is OPEN for the 2017-18 Season   Skiing 12 trails with 5 lifts on a base of 16 - 46 inches.  December 16, 17 - Santa visits Beech Mountain; Ongoing - Music and events at Beech Tree Bar and Grille and Beech Mountain Brewery.




 



Cataloochee Ski Area is  OPEN for the 2017-18 Season.  Skiing 16 slopes with 4 lifts on a base of 28 - 52 inches from 9 AM to 4:30 PM with night skiing beginning 12/16.  December 25 - Christmas Day Skiing with Santa 1 PM - 10 PM.









Sapphire Valley Ski
Area is   OPEN for the 2017-18 Season. Opening Day December 16. 
Beginner and Training slope 29 - 49 inches; Main Slope 29 - 51 inches. Frozen Falls Tube Park: 30 - 42 inches.
 





Sugar Mountain Ski Resort
  is OPEN for the 2017-18 Season 
Skiing 12 slopes with 4 lifts on a base of 16 - 48 inches for day and evening sessions. 12/8 - Pre-Season Ski Clinic; 12/8 - SugarFest. Ice skating is open with sessions at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm. Tubing is open. Live music weekends at the All Decked Out Grill.

 



  Wolf Ridge Ski Resort  is OPEN for the 2017-18 Season   Skiing 10 slopes with 2 lifts on an average base of 50 inches. Tube Run is OPEN 9.00 AM to 10.00 PM.

Totally 80's Retro Ski Weekend at Beech Mountain Resort

February 20 - 22, 2015   Totally 80's Retro Ski Weekend   The events stat at 5 PM Friday. It's a ski slope "time machine" weekend as Beech Mountain relives the New Wave era of big hair, leg warmers, Members Only Jackets and colorful ski clothes. So dig out your retro ski garb and wax up those vintage 210s. You'll have, like, a totally tubular experience. 

Here's a sampling of what's in store: Dinner specials and ski rentals for $19.80, two night lodging specials starting at $188.80 (+tax), Madonna Look-Alike Contest on Friday night and Appearances by the Carolina Ghostbusters and Bret Michaels tribute artist.

Celebrate St Patrick's Day at Appalachian Ski Mountain

March 17 - St Paddy's Day at ASM.  A fun filled day of park shredding and a shot at winning some great prizes from Grenade and the Alpine Ski Shop.

All ages and abilities are encouraged to sign up for this Jam Session, which will be held in the Appaljack Terrain Park on 4 select features. A short jam session (10-15 minutes) will take place on each feature. The Alpine Ski Shop crew will be on site to award prizes for best trick on each individual feature for both skiers and snowboarders.
Registration is FREE and will be held in the Alpine Ski Shop from 10-Noon. The event will begin around 1 PM.

College Week Begins Today at Beech Mountain Ski Resort

February 2 - 10   College Week at Beech Mountain Ski Resort   An annual event during which College students receive the group rate on tickets by showing their college ID in the Group Sales office. Enjoy live music and competitions on both weekends.  

The Bathing Beauty competition will be held today, February Feb 2. Participants will flaunt their stuff in a bathing suit as they cruise the Play Yard Slope from top to bottom. Males and females are encouraged to wear their 1-pieces or bikinis. Registration will be held the day of the even from 9 PM to noon and the event will start at 12:30 PM.

Sugar Mountain Ski Resort hosts SugarFest this Weekend

December 14 - 16    SugarFest, the annual weekend of winter fun at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort offers something for everyone who loves to play in the snow:

Demonstrations of the latest ski and board equipment -
Try out the latest ski and snowboard equipment from Salomon, Volkl, Nordica, Burton, Head, Never Summer, K2, Atomic, Dynastar, Rossignol, Ride, and Line - just about every manufacturer displayed in store showrooms! 9am till 3:30pm, Saturday and Sunday.

Pre-season Ski Clinic for Adults -
1994 Olympic Gold and Silver medalist, Diann Roffe, returns as this year's celebrity coach. 8:30am, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

After Ski Party and Fireworks Display -
Food, drinks and dancing to live bluegrass music by Boss Hawg. 4pm till 7pm, Saturday. Fireworks presented by the Village of Sugar Mountain. 5:45pm, Saturday. 


The Rail Jam -
Come out and watch or throw down with some of the area's best riders in the Ride Rail Jam session. 10am, Sunday.
Paul Wylie Olympic Silver Medalist -
Watch 1992 Olympic Silver medalist Paul Wylie dazzle us with his amazing skating talent. Followed by an on-ice clinic. 7pm Friday.

Meet and Greet Olympic Champions -
Olympic medalists Diann Roffe and Paul Wylie show their medals and sign autographs. 7:30pm, Friday.

SugarFeast -
Hot Chocolate and Whipped Cream Bar: 6pm, Friday. Soup Safari: 11am, Saturday. BBQ and Sweet Tea: 5pm, Saturday. Lots of food and drink to fill you up and enjoy!

March Madness on the NC Ski Slopes Includes New Snow

March 5 Sugar Mountain Sk Resort March Madness  begins today and runs through the end of the season, Sugar offers up to 25% savings on lift tickets, rental equipment, and lessons. Some restrictions apply.
Beginning Monday, March 5, Cataloochee Ski Area will operate from 1 PM until 10 PM, Monday through Friday and 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday, through the end of planned daily operations for the season on Sunday, March 25. During the late season operating schedule,  twilight and night skiing will be Monday through Friday and day skiing only on Saturdays and Sundays. New snow was made last night as temperatures dropped.



March 5, Beech Mountain Ski Resort will operate the day session only, extending session hours from 9 AM to 6 PM, while offering the best-valued lift ticket in the area. An all day ticket, running 9 hours, will be offered at only $30. Half-day sessions will run from 9 AM  to 1 PM, and 1 PM to 6 PM, for the low price of $20. Prices and hours will remain in effect for the remainder of the season.   50% off everything in all retail locations including FLOW, Arbor, Grenade, Atomic, Billabong, and Scott.  Fresh snow!

March 5  March Madness begins at Sugar Mountain Ski resort with  25% savings on lift tickets, rentals and lessons. Temperatures are in the teens, it's snowing and snow making continues to add more coverage to the slopes. With 3-4 inches of new natural snow and more snowkmaking, conditions are good  for Spring skiing.  The Sugar Mountain Sports Shop continues to sell all 2012 and older Spyder samples at 30-60% off retail.

Both Wolf Ridge Ski Resort and Sapphire Valley Ski Slopes are now closed for the season.

Cataloochee Ski Area Celebrates Martin Luther King Jr Weekend

January 13-16   Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Weekend at Cataloochee Ski Area    In addition to regular twilight and night skiing schedule of Tuesday through Saturday evenings, there will also twilight and night ski on Sunday, January 15.

Located in Maggie Valley NC,  Cataloochee Ski Area is North Carolina's First Ski Area and in recent years the first NC Ski Area to open for the season. Fresh Fridays at Appalachian Ski Mountain

January 6    Fresh Fridays at Appalachain Ski Mountain, 940 Ski Mountain Rd in Blowing Rock, NC. Hit the slopes in a low-key, relaxed jam session format in which riders can emjoy the night's new setup as many times as they want and in any order they want, just like a normal day of riding with friends.

Registration 5:00-6:30 at the registration desk on the Upper Level of the Lodge. The shred session will last from 7:00 – 8:00, with awards taking place nearby the setup immediately after the jam ends.

Beech Mountain hosts Winterfest this Weekend

January 7-8   Winterfest   The town of Beech Mountain and Beech Mountain Ski Resort present a variety of events throughout the weekend to get the official start of ski season underway. The town of Beech Mountain will host the North Carolina State championship snowshoe race on January 7.

The weekend's events will include the the annual bathing beauty contest, the Village Rail Jam, the Cardboard Box Derby’s Visual Competition, huge sales on apparel and equipment, live music and more.

Cataloochee Ski Area Now Open for the 2011-2012 Season

Thanks to a sudden cold snap this week, temperatures dropped and an enthusiastic crew at Cataloochee Ski Area cranked up the snow machines. The combination of freezing temperatures and hard work has allowed Cataloochee to open for skiing this weekend - the first of the NC Ski slopes for the 2011-2012 season. 

Special: $25 lift ticket, with regular rental rates. Midweek season passes are valid this weekend. Cataloochee will be closed Monday - Friday and reopen Saturday Nov. 19th with the regular early season schedule
Hours: Saturday & Sunday 8:30AM-4:30PM, Closed for the week.
Runs: Lower Omigosh, Easy Way, Rabbit Hill, Beginners Luck
Lifts: Easy Way, Omigosh to Mid-Station


Cataloochee Ski Area
is located in the heart of Maggie Valley NC
. The first Ski area to open in the North Carolina Mountains, Cataloochee begins its 51st year of operation in the 2011-2012 ski season. The Ski area offers
