Halloween Event: Beech Mountain Haunted Hayride

October 25-27   Haunted Hayride on Beech Mountain  This full scale production put on by the Town of Beech Mountain and the Lees McRae Equestrian Club serves as a fundraiser. Enjoy the thrills and chills of the hayride for a good cause. 

The early ride on Saturday is family friendly, lbut ater events may not be appropriate for children of all ages, or may require parental guidance. Tickets are $5 in advance, or $7 the day of. The rides leave from Buckeye Recreation Center at 8 PM.

Labor Day Weekend Event: Mile High Kite Festival on Beech Mountain

August 31 - September 1   Mile High Kite Festival   A family friendly fun event and a wonderful tradition on Beech Mountain as the community welcomes back the Richmond Air Force and Wings Across Carolina Kiting and Okra Society Kiting Clubs. The first 300 kids will get a free kite for the competition. Kites can also be purchased. Two kite clubs are available to demonstrate flying techniques, and will also display their kites.

Beech Mountain Hosts Retro 80s this Weekend

February 22 - 24   Beech Mountain's Retro 80s Weekend   Beech Mountain's trip back to the 1980s. Friday night will feature live music at 9 PM at Jackalope’s View. Don your 80s gear for a big air competition Saturday afternoon, followed by an apparel contest. 

The  Beech Tree Bar and Grille will host 80’z Enuff at 7 PM on Saturday. Lodging specials start from $80.80 per night, with dinner and equipment rental deals throughout town.

College Week Begins Today at Beech Mountain Ski Resort

February 2 - 10   College Week at Beech Mountain Ski Resort   An annual event during which College students receive the group rate on tickets by showing their college ID in the Group Sales office. Enjoy live music and competitions on both weekends.  

The Bathing Beauty competition will be held today, February Feb 2. Participants will flaunt their stuff in a bathing suit as they cruise the Play Yard Slope from top to bottom. Males and females are encouraged to wear their 1-pieces or bikinis. Registration will be held the day of the even from 9 PM to noon and the event will start at 12:30 PM.

Beech Mountain Ski Resort hosts the High Country Nordic Association 3rd Annual Telefest this Weekend

January 9 - 11   High Country Nordic Association 3rd Annual Telefest   Downhill Nordic skiers celebrate the beautiful Telemark turn at Beech Mountain Resort in this annual event. The "telemark", is a dipping, dance-like turn that Nordic skiers can execute, because only their toe is attached to the ski binding.

In its third year, the event is now the leading regional opportunity for "tele-ski" enthusiasts to meet, ski together, improve their skills, and win great prizes. Prizes are provided from a long list of outdoor gear suppliers. Telefest events include a poker run, skinning race (skin-up and race down through gates), beacon search, best costume, switch riding, best tele-trick.

Beech Mountain (Ski) Resort, often referred to as "
Ski Beech", is located on Beech Mountain NC in the heart of North Carolina's High Country. Beech is Eastern America's highest ski resort at 5506 feet above sea level. With excellent skiing (day or night), and a charming Alpine Village filled with intriguing shops, tempting restaurants and more Ski Beech offers a winter wonderland of fun and activities for all members of your family or group.

Alpine skiing and snowboarding will appeal to the thrill-seekers and for those looking for something a little tamer, the resort also features ice skating and snow tubing. WinterFest this weekend in Beech Mountain

January 4-6   Winterfest  The town of Beech Mountain and Beech Mountain Resort will present a number of events throughout the weekend. The town of Beech Mountain will host the North Carolina State championship snowshoe race. Some of the weekend's events include the the annual bathing beauty contest, the Village Rail Jam, the Cardboard Box Derby’s Visual Competition, huge sales on apparel and equipment and live music.

December 23   Community Bonfire on Beech Mountain At 8 PM the Famous Brick Oven Pizzeria hosts another community bonfire. Come cozy up around the fire as you roast s’mores, drink cider and cocoa, and enjoy a sing-along. Free food, beverages, and music.

NC Holiday Event: Santa Visits Beech Mountain this Weekend

December 15  Santa Visits Beech Mountain  Santa makes a special visit to Beech Mountain to spread Holiday Cheer. Visit with Santa beside the fireplace and enjoy hot chocolate, cider and cookies at the 4 Seasons at Beech. After your visit, bring a homemade ornament and join the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce for the lighting of the town Christmas Tree.

Breakfast with Mrs. Claus Held at the Buckeye Recreation Center from 9 AM - 11 AM. Join Mrs. Claus for holiday cheer, Christmas stories and photos with the children. A light breakfast will be served free of charge, but donations are accepted.

NC Holiday Events: Beech Mountain Craft Fair and Community Bonfire This Weekend

Beech Mountain NC is full of the Holiday Spirit this weekend with handmade mountain crafts and an evening community bonfire.

November 24 -  Holiday Market Craft Fair An annual Holiday Market at the Buckeye Recreation Center held from 11am-3pm. Spend the day with the family or get your holiday shopping done with the unique arts and crafts that will be offered by local artisans.

November 25 -   Community Bonfire Held at 8 PM at the Famous Brick Oven Pizzeria. Come cozy up around the fire as you roast s’mores, drink cider and cocoa and sing along to the rhythm of the guitar string. Free food, beverages, and music.

Autumn at OZ Bigger and Better than ever

October 6-7  Autumn at OZ   Follow the yellow brick road to the annual Autumn at Oz party. Be sure to dress warm, you never know when a twister will come through. Visitors can tour Dorothy's House, Uncle Henry's Barn, and a mini Oz museum. There will be food, crafters and games, plus chairlift rides up to Oz for those who prefer not to go by shuttle. Enjoy a hayride, the petting zoo, a bonfire and a full weekend of entertainment.

The Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce is proud to present "Autumn at Oz" for 2012, now larger than ever. Travel back in time to 1939 to the enchanted world of the "Oz", high atop
Beech Mountain at the Land of Oz park. This year the 19th annual "Autumn at Oz" Festival is returning with an expanded venue providing visitors with more activities, food, drink, and sights to behold while maintaining the same nostalgic feeling from the Land of Oz.

Theme park entrance times are also expanded for 2012. The purchase of your ticket designates the time that you will be transported to the Land of OZ from the Resort. The park opens at 9:30AM and tickets are available for entrance to the Land of OZ every hour until 5:30PM. The last bus leaves at 4:30PM. Come early and stay late, enjoy the shows and entertainment at the Resort prior to and after leaving the Land of OZ. Purchase tickets online.

Labor Day Weekend Event: Go Fly a Kite!

September 2   Mile High Kite Festival   An annual family friendly fun event and a wonderful tradition on Beech Mountain as the community welcomes back the Richmond Air Force and Wings Across Carolina Kiting and Okra Society Kiting Clubs.
Festival attendees will fly kites at an altitude of one mile above sea level. The first 300 kids will get a free kite for the competition. Decorating help and materials will be available for the free kites. Kites can also be purchased. Two kite clubs are available to demonstrate flying techniques, and will also display their kites.
A contest will be held for the biggest, smallest and best-decorated kite.  All participants receive an official certificate from Beech Mountain Mayor Rick Owen that proclaims "I flew a kite a mile high on Beech Mountain."

The Kite Festival takes place in the meadow at the top of Beech Mountain next to the Brick Oven Pizzeria.  Hours are 10 AM. to 4 PM..  There is no charge for admission.

Labor Day Weekend Event: Dog Show in Beech Mountain

September 1 - 6th Annual Dog Show    Bring your pet dog and join the wagging tails at this annual dog show. Judging will be in pure breed (large and small) and mixed breed (large and small) divisions. There will be also judging in fun groups. Trophies and prizes will be awarded. 

Half of the proceeds go to Friends for Life Animal Rescue, and the other half to support recreation programs on Beech mountain.

5th Annual A Cool 5 Mile Race Weekend in Beech Mountain

June 8-9   5th Annual A Cool 5 Mile Race Weekend- a compilation of events including pre-race festivities on Friday with a pasta dinner, guest motivational speaker, music, and plenty of games and activities for the entire family. Saturday is race day with the festivities beginning at 9:00 AM with the 5 mile race, featuring cutting edge Jaguar race timing technology, the pet friendly 1.5 mile fun run/walk, and post-race awards party.
