5th Annual A Cool 5 Mile Race Weekend in Beech Mountain

June 8-9   5th Annual A Cool 5 Mile Race Weekend- a compilation of events including pre-race festivities on Friday with a pasta dinner, guest motivational speaker, music, and plenty of games and activities for the entire family. Saturday is race day with the festivities beginning at 9:00 AM with the 5 mile race, featuring cutting edge Jaguar race timing technology, the pet friendly 1.5 mile fun run/walk, and post-race awards party.

Labor Day Weekend Event: Annual Mile High Kite Festival

September 4  9th Beech Mountain Annual Mile High Kite Festival Family fun all day with Vendors and big kite demonstrations, music and contests for the best decorated, smallest and largest kites. Large kites will be on display from kite clubs.

Kite-flying demonstrations are given by the Richmond (Virginia) Air Force Kite Club and the Wings Across Carolina Kiting and Okra Society of Charlotte. Children of all ages are invited to fly their own kites. The first 200 children receive free kites to decorate and fly. Visitors can buy kites at the event or bring their own. April 29 the  2011 Opening Day for Tweetsie Railroad .  NC's oldest theme park opens for another season of wild-west fun & excitement! Kids (of all ages) can be a cowboy, Indian or engineer. Take a spin on the rides in the Country Fair and on Miner’s Mountain, test your skills at the Arcade and Shooting Gallery or meet the friendly animals at DeerPark.

April 30 from 10 AM to 4 PM Hendersonville NC hosts Spring Festival at the Farm . Historic Johnson Farm offers fun for the whole family,including arts & crafts, a pound cake sale, house tours, food, entertainment, wagon and tractor rides. Adults admission $6.00, Students $4.00, preschoolers are free.

April 30 the National Day of Puppetry at Asheville's Folk Art Center is a day-long celebration of the art of puppetry sponsored by the Asheville Puppetry Alliance. Festivities include puppetmaking, puppet demonstrations and roving performers throughout the day with stage shows by the Western North Carolina puppeteers.
