June is Family Fun Month at Beech Mountain NC

June 1 - 30, 2016     Family Fun Month at Beech Mountain NC.  This month is designed to bring together kids, parents and grandparents with 30 days of organized family activities and lodging specials.

The fun includes:

  • movies under the stars
  • tours of the old Land of Oz theme park
  • scenic chairlift rides
  • parent-child pickleball outings
  • day trips to nearby Grandfather Mountain

  • concerts on the lawn

Icycle Mountain Bike Event at Fontana Village Resort

January 26   The Icycle Mountain Bike Event   Brave the elements and enjoy a day of adventure in the mountains. The Icycle Cross Country Lemans start begins at 11:00 AM in 5 minute waves for Sport, Big Bike, and Beginner categories. Expert and Single-Speed categories start at 1 PM. 

The 7 mile course consists of varied terrain with rocks, roots, creeks, and wide open passing lanes offering some of the finest western North Carolina singletrack. The event takes place at

September 17 - 22   The Pisgah Mountains Bike Stage Race Come experience some of the best mountain biking trails in the U.S. The Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race is a five-day, fully supported endurance event that offers an unmatched sampler of some of the best single-track in the country.

The course includes the East’s most rugged trails and tallies 28,000 feet of climbing over 195 miles. Discover riding in Pisgah with rhododendron tunnels, picturesque creek crossings, incredible leaf colors, and rooty, rocky single-track. Additional activities include a free kids’ race and more.

Scenic Lift Rides on Sugar Mountain

July 4 - September 3    Weekend Scenic Lift Rides  every Saturday and Sunday 10 AM -5:30 PM Bring the kids, a picnic lunch, your mountain bike, or just a friend and enjoy a breathtaking 45 minute roundtrip lift-ride to Sugar's 5,300 foot peak with some of the best scenery in the area. Assault on the Carolinas Today in Brevard

April 14 The 13th Annual Assault on the Carolinas  starts and ends in downtown Brevard. Last year there were more than 750 riders, and 1,000 riders are already registered for this year.  Many of the downtown businesses will be offering discounts to riders and families.

The Assault on the Carolinas is the annual fundraiser for the Pisgah Forest Rotary Club and offers a 100k, 60k, and 40k rides. The 100k goes through North Carolina and South Carolina mountains and valleys. Fully supported ride with 4 well stocked rest stops, and a challenging 6 mile climb up Ceasar's Head. The 60 and 40k go through the river valleys of Scenic Transylvania County.

8th Annual Tour De Lure Bike Ride Today in Marion

April 7      8th Annual Tour De Lure Bike Ride  Two rides one for the "hard core" cyclist and a fun ride begin at 9 AM.  The Dewey Hughes Memorial Ride is a challenging one, beginning at Marion's YMCA traveling through rolling farmlands, up Stone Mountain, around Lake Lure, through Chimney Rock and returning to Marion for a total of 67 miles.

The Fun Ride begins at the same time and place
(same fees), but takes you on an exciting 25 mile course through rolling hillsides and farmlands. Applications available online or at the Corpening YMCA in Marion. Free Spaghetti meal for participants after the ride.
