October 31   Trick-or-Treat Street in Historic Downtown Hendersonville   Beginning at 5:30 pm you can come enjoy our wide sidewalks & friendly merchants for some of the safest most enjoyable trick or treating in the area. Other events include a dance party extravaganza with returning DJ, Sid the Surf, as well as a Halloween costume contest held in the 400 block of Downtown Main Street.

Labor Day Weekend Festivals: NC Apple Festival in Hendersonville NC

August 30 - September 2  Head for the  NC Apple Festival an annual Labor Day Weekend Event in North Carolina. The Festival features a street fair on Historic Main Street including: entertainment, arts and crafts, apple products, children and youth activities, special exhibits, food and the King Apple Parade on Labor Day.

Hendersonville NC Barbeque Expo this Weekend

April 20   4th Annual Henderson County Boyd  BBQ Expo  A family festival with vendors, BBQ cooking competitions, children's activities, arts and crafts, and entertainment. The Henderson County Boyd BBQ Expo allows BBQ teams compete in one of two divisions: Professional (Restaurants, Caterers and those that compete on the Professional BBQ circuit) and Back Yard (all others).


Back again for 2013, The Circle C Racing Pigs will be running their little legs off in quest of the ultimate prize…. an Oreo cookie.  This attraction is sure to once again be fun for all ages. Enjoy the BBQ festival grounds by riding in the Little Blue Choo, with all ages welcome.  For Wrestling Fans, High Velocity Wrestling is coming to the BBQ Expo with their high flying fast paced action.

Both divisions will be competing in four separate categories: Ribs, Chicken, Pork & Brisket.  Meats are blind judged on taste, texture and appearance with cash prizes  awarded for the top 5 competitors in each category.

The BBQ Expo is held at the Hendersonville High School Stadiu, 1 Bearcat Boulevard in Hendersonville, NC.

NC Fall Leaf Season Event: Jump Off Rock Festival

October 13  Jump Off Rock Fall Festival   from 4 PM - 8 PM with  live music. Bring your lawn chairs and warm blankets for an evening of food and entertainment. Jump Off Rock will be closed to the public during the event and entry will be by ticket only. Enjoy great food from Tooley's Cafe. The menu is, BBQ Chicken Breast, Margarita Coleslaw, Baked Potato Salad, Homemade Cornbread, Tea and Water. Food will be served from 4 PM to 7:30 PM 

Jump off Rock is located in Laurel Park just 10 minutes from downtown Hendersonville NC. It's a great place to visit if you like hiking, biking, stunning  views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, or just reading a book in the afternoon sun on one of the park's benches. There are three trails for hiking, each one varying in length and difficulty level.

Labor Day Weekend Event: NC Apple Festival

August 31 - September 3   NC Apple Festival  This annual Labor Day Weekend Event features a street fair on Historic Main Street in downtown Hendersonville NC. This favorite annual festival is now in its 66th year.



Apple Festival activities include:
entertainment, arts and crafts, apple products, children and youth activities, special exhibits, food and the King Apple Parade on Labor Day. 



The King Apple Parade is a highlight of the FestivalAt the parade there will be professional floats, bands, youth groups, antique cars, fire trucks and many others participating in this event that will draw over 60,000 individuals.

Final Hendersonville Street Dance of the Season

August 13  7 PM - 9 PM   Street Dances in historic downtown  Hendersonville.  The Street Dances, featuring a mountain heritage music and dance on Monday evening during the summer,  come to a close this week. Bring a chair and sit back, relax and enjoy mountain heritage music and dancing beginning at 7:00 PM with seating area open after 5:30PM.

The sounds of fiddles and banjos playing at the Street Dance have been a part of Henderson County's heritage for over 90 years. People of all ages journey to downtown Hendersonville to enjoy live mountain heritage music and dancing. Put on your dancing shoes and make use of the  dance area in front of the stage or just sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of traditional mountain music.

Hendersonville's Music on Main Street opens for the Summer Season this Friday

Music on Main Street   The 14th annual Music On Main Street concert series will be held every Friday evening from June 8 through August 17, 2012 in historic Hendersonville NC. Music On Main Street showcases a diverse lineup of musical talents, from jazz, pop, oldies, rock, to contemporary music. Bring a chair and enjoy the music from 7 PM - 9 PM. Admission is FREE.

Tuxedo Junction will perform at this week's concert.
The Hendersonville Antique Car Club will also host a classic car show in conjunction with the June 9 Music On Main Street.

Memorial Day Weekend Events: Hendersonville Garden Jubilee Festival

May 26 -27  19th Annual Garden Jubilee Festival   The Garden Jubilee Festival offers over 200 vendors selling thousands of plants, arts and crafts, garden talks and clinics, garden accessories, and food. The festival covers 8 blocks of Main Street from Sixth Avenue-Caswell Street. Downtown from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM both days. The festival is always held during the Memorial Day weekend.

Barbeque Expo In Henderson County

April 21     Henderson County Barbeque Expo A family festival with vendors, BBQ cooking competitions, children's activities, arts & crafts, and entertainment.

The event includes The King BMX Stunt Show with a day of High Flying Fun. Sponsors by Ingles. The King BMX Stunt Show has been featured at a number of State Fairs, pro football half time shows and other large events around the country.

The Circle C Racing Pigs are joing the festivities this year. This attraction is sure to be fun for all ages as pigs and more race for the ultimate prize…. an Oreo cookie.

Do Tell StoryFest in Hendersonville this Weekend

February 11-12   Do Tell StoryFest   3rd annual Festival Held at the Flat Rock Playhouse Downtown Theatre, listen to stories from rhymes to folk tales to history to modern personal stories from the region's best performers.

The Saturday festival concert features renown storyteller and singer Michael Reno Harrell.Harrell is an award winning songwriter, as well as a veteran storyteller and entertainer from the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Michael's  stories are familiar and razor sharp with a point. His brand of entertainment appeals to a diverse audience.

Other StoryFest participants include:

David Novak is a remarkable speaker with a background in theatre arts including Shakespeare, clowning, creative dramatics, playwriting, and directing.
Sherry Lovett
has been a storyteller for twelve years starting when she was a middle school teacher.Karen-Eve is an international storyteller, Henderson County native,  former General Manager of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and is the creator and director of Do Tell festival.
Vixi Jil
  known as Sister Silly Goose has been reading, writing, and telling ancient Celtic faerie tales, as well as old timey mountain Jack tales for over 27 years.Candler Willis is a multi-talented renaissance man who time shifts between the 19th and 21st century!Elena Miller a winner of the prestigious national Freeman Tilden Award, began performing at age 12 and continues on to today.
Ronnie Pepper has 22 years experience working as an educator of young children and is now Director of Henderson County Head Start Centers.
Gwenda LedBetter
has taught and told stories for fifty years, beginning her work in Asheville’s  Pack Library and in "Tales from the Red Rocker "on WLOS-TV.

NC Summer Events: Hendersonville Street Dances begin this week

July 11   Street Dances  - The Street Dances have been a tradition in Hendersonville NC for 92 years. The Street Dances features mountain heritage music and dance every Monday evening from July 11 through August 15. Bring a chair, admission is free.

To open the 93rd Annual Street Dances
Bobby and Blue Ridge Tradition will perform along with Southern Mountain Smoke Cloggers, mountain heritage bluegrass music, clogging and square dancing. The event takes place at the Visitors Information Center-201 S. Main Street in historic downtown Hendersonville from  7:00PM-9:00PM.
