Event: 
    Fall Festival and Trick or Treat   Celebrate the last day of the Tailgate Market season. For the kids there will be Trick or Treating with downtown businesses, a costume contest, pumpkin painting and craft activities. Growers will have fall crops for sale. Hours are 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Historic Marion Market Shade Shelter.

Peanuts Pumpkin Patch Express   The PEANUTS gang return the the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Pumpkin Patch for this annual family fun favorite. The excursions, which are themed after Charles M. Schulz's classic story "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," will be departing from the Bryson City Depot and arriving at the Pumpkin Patch. Event activities include campfire marshmallows, a coloring station, temporary tattoos, trick or treating, bouncy house, hayrides and live musical entertainment. Two trips per day at 12 PM and 3:30 PM.

    The Haunted Farm   If you dare... come visit this spooktacular farm sitting on a mysterious, blood-soaked stretch of land where the deranged Missy Mae Lively eternally pines for her lost groom. Just 15 minutes from Asheville, The Haunted Farm is  billed as the scariest Halloween attraction in Western North Carolina. The Farm is  frightful fun with three main parts: The Woods, The Farm and The Haunted Hayride. New for 2015 - There are more gruesome scenes, horrifying sights, special effects, incredible details and startling scares then ever before. Candle Light Ghost Tours  Come out for an evening of tales, mystery and haunts at the Candle Light Ghost Tours. Learn about the ghosts that haunt the old buildings that make up downtown Wilkesboro. Visit a cemetery where Civil War Soldiers are buried, stand in the jail cell Tom Dooley spent his last days, and listen to the stories of the haunted Smithey Hotel. Tickets will be sold on the Courthouse lawn at the museum and at the Wilkesboro Open Air Market the Friday before. Tours start at 8 PM

Event:     Halloween Eve Wine, Fish Fry and Costume Party  
South Creek Vineyards will be serving up local fish or letting the brave catch their own - if they dare. You can avoid the terror and wine down on the vineyard deck while listening to live music by Rory Kelly. Wicked, scary and scandalous costumes welcome but optional. Your purchased ticket includes: Fishing and you keep the fish from the stocked lagoon - you will need to bring your own fishing gear and lawn chair; Catered fish and chips dinner, fried fresh on site; A glass of South Creek wine. Costume Contest 7 PM with the voted best winning a bottle of South Creek Wine. Live music by Rory Kelly, acoustic rock. Whether you will fish or not, an advance ticket purchase for each person is required to attend this event. No one under age 21 permitted. Admission: $15/person.

Event:     Beary Scary Halloween at Grandfather Mountain   
 
Grandfather Mountain has plenty of tricks and treats in store for its annual Beary Scary Halloween festival. The special day features a spooky selection of nature programs, Halloween-themed crafts, a costume contest, animal enrichments and, of course, trick-or-treating. All activities are included with the price of admission, and kids in costume get in for half-price.

   Heart of Brevard Halloweenfest in Transylvania  Held in Downtown Brevard - 10 AM - 10 PM.  Transylvania’s 33nd Annual Halloweenfest (10-6) and Beer Garden with Live Music,  Oskar Blues and Brevard Brewing (6-10 PM). Activities include a street festival with arts and crafts, Pumpkin Town, Boo-ville, Transylvania Boulevard, Tailgate Market, Ghoulish Golf, Spooky Hay Maze, Face & Hair Painting,  costume parade, Downtown trick-or-treat and more.

October 31      Highlands Downtown Halloween   Trick-or Treat in a safe environment in Downtown Highlands. The streets are closed to vehicles with foot traffic only and children, parents, and even pets may walk around in customs collecting goodies from local merchants.

Halloween Event: Boone BOO!

October 31     Boone Boo!    Ghosts, ghouls and goblins hit the streets of Downtown Boone for the Annual Downtown Boo Boone on October 31, 2012 The fun begins at 4:00 pm at the Watauga County Library.with crafts and activities for the kids. At 4:30 pm there will be a parade to the Jones House Community Center followed by Trick or Treating with the Merchants in Downtown Boone until 6:00 PM.

Halloween Event: Downtown Trick or Treat in Bryson City

October 31     Downtown Trick or Treat   Enjoy a fun, safe and small town trick or treating experience this Halloween. With the streets closed, the kids are out in full force to fill their bags with candy from the costumed downtown merchants.

Halloween Event: Trick on the Street in Waynesville NC

October 31     Treats on the Street   Participating downtown Waynesville merchants open their doors for trick-or-treaters on Halloween evening. This is a safe and fun adventure for costumed children and their parents to stroll the sidewalks in search of delicious candy and special treats. Waynesville Fire & Police Departments and First Baptist Church join in the fun.

Trick or Treat Street and Scarecrow Contest in Chimney Rock

October 31   Trick or Treat Street   5 PM - 7 PM on Main Street in Chimney Rock Village. Annual Trick or Treat Street plus the Scarecrow Contest final voting and winner awards. Traditional, creative and funny scarecrows line the sidewalks, shops fronts and restaurants.

Halloween Event: Haunted Ghost Trail in Boone

October 24 - 27, 30-31    Haunted Horn Ghost Trail     is a hair-raiser set on the grounds of Horn in the West and Hickory Ridge Living History Museum. It is a fundraiser for and by ASU's ( Appalachian State University)  Dept. of Education students and the Southern Appalachian Historical Association,  producer of "Horn in the West."

Ghost Trail hours: Hours: Dusk to 11:30 PM.  Dates: October 24 - 27 and 30 - 31 (closed Sunday and Monday).

Halloween Weekend Event: Punkin Chuckin

October 27-28    Punkin Chunkin Festival   An Annual Fall Festival featuring flying Pumpkins. Games, crafts, food and music, beer and wine garden in a large mountainous area with beautiful scenery. Sunday's events include the "Anything Pumpkin" cooking contest and the finals of the Punkin Chunkin. Held in downtown Hayesville NC.

Last Weekend for the Tweetsie Railroad Ghost Train

October 26 - 27  Tweetsie Railroad Ghost Train  makes it final runs for the 2012 season this weekend.  All aboard for the 23rd spooktacular season of Tweetsie Railroad's Ghost Train® Halloween Festival and the High Country's most popular Halloween celebration.

Enjoy a variety of special frighteningly fun activities and spooktacular experiences including the Boneyard, 3-D maze, Black Hole, a stroll through the Freaky Forest and the spine-chilling Haunted House

Halloween Event: Haunted Historic Homes Tour in Black Mountain

October 26-27  Haunted Historic Homes Walking Tours   In conjunction with the Swannanoa Valley Museum, six property owners on and around the Dougherty Heights Historic District will open their homes and host a ghoulish walking tour to share the intriguing histories (and resident ghost stories) associated with each property.

Tours will last approximately 1.5 hours and groups of 10-15 will leave every half hour, 6:00pm, 6:30pm, 7:00pm, 7:30pm, or 8:00pm. Meet your tour guide at the Swannanoa Valley Museum at 223 West State Street in Black Mountain at least 10 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Refreshments will be provided about halfway through the tour and at the end of the tour. House historians and guides will be in costume. Feel free to wear your costume as well.

Halloween Event: Brevard hosts Transylvania County Halloweenfest

October 27  Halloweenfest  in Transylvania County   Now in its 30th year this annual spooktacular is held in Downtown Brevard NC, beginning at 10:00AM. Activities include tiny tot pumpkin bowling, cookie decorating, inflatables, costume parade, little spooky hay maze, costume parade, Downtown trick-or-treat, pumpkin patch. Preceding the StreetFest the Annual “Flight of the Vampire” 5/10K Run & Walk begins at 8 AM. 

Halloweenfest also hosts, the 17th Annual Old Time Music Competition.
Musicians can compete in: Junior Fiddle, Folk Song, Lap Dulcimer, Old Time: Banjo, Fiddle, & String Band, Mandolin, and Guitar. The Old Time String Band Competition takes place in the County Courthouse, beginning at 8:00pm.

October 6   Creatures of the Night and Bonfire Delight at Grandfather Mountain   Families will enjoy this rare opportunity to visit Grandfather Mountain after dark. Tweetsie Railroad Ghost Train begins this Weekend

NC Halloween Event: Haunted Museum for Halloween

October 31 come to the  Haunted Museum at 5:30 PM for a Free event for ghosts and goblins of all sizes and ages and special treats for children at the Swannanoa Valley Museum. This is the last event for the season before the Museum closes for the Winter months.

The Swannanoa Valley Museum preserves and interprets the social, cultural and natural history of the Swannanoa Valley, a pathway to Western North Carolina, by developing dynamic programs and engaging exhibitions for the education and enrichment of the community, its children, and future generations. The Museum is located at 223 W State Street in Black Mountain NC.

October 30   The Legend of Sleepy Hollow   at the Tryon Fine Arts Center. Come and experience The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, a “spooky comedy” produced for Fall Educational Theater Tour with local High School students. October 30      "Dracula" by Ensemble Stage  A staged re-creation of the 1938 broadcast from Orson Welles at the Mercury Theatre.  The show is a throw back to the entertainment of the 30's and 40's complete with sound effects recreated live on stage by the actors just like they did in the golden days of radio. NC Halloween Events: Haunted Indian Village in Cherokee

Now through October 31 - The Oconaluftee Indian Village in Cherokee NC  is transformed for a week of fright and fun as zombies, ghosts and goblins visit Native America via the Qualla Boundary. Bring your family for a scare at the Haunted Indian Village. Evenings beginning at 7 PM...and IF YOU DARE - walk the haunted trail. If you survive the thrilling exploration of  mysteries and tricks along  the trail, you will be treated to Cherokee storytellers sharing actually Cherokee legends as everyone gathers around the bonfire.

October 28 - Illusions & Mind Games 
- Mystery, magic and fun comes to the Mountainside Theatre as three of the area’s top illusionists and mentalists will astonish guests with amazing tricks and treats. Beginning at 8:00 PM, it is mind blowing, startling fun for the entire family


October 29  - Cherokee Monster Ball
is a Halloween Part full of good old-fashioned fun, but with a twist  as Cherokee celebrates the harvest with a monster bash at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds. The Exhibit Hall will be decked out in honor the season. Party-goers will be treated to a live band, costume contest, games and special foods from 8 PM to 11 PM
