Milllion Dollar Quartet at The Flat Rock Playhouse

Running now through May 21, 2016 - Million Dollar Quartet was inspired by a true story, and dramatizes the impromptu jam session featuring Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash, including the hit songs Blue Suede Shoes, Folsom Prison Blues, Great Balls of Fire, Hound Dog, Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On and many more.

Tickets from $15 to $40 and this popular performance is nearly sold out so get yours NOW. Doors open to the theatre 30 minutes prior to each performance. Light concessions are available one hour prior to all performances and during the 15 minute intermission and include soft drinks, beer, and wine. Most performances run approximately two hours with a 15 minute intermission.

Pump Boys and Dinettes opens This Week at The Flat Rock Playhouse

October 1 - 25, 2015 The Flat Rock Playhouse Presents Pump Boys and Dinettes Pump Boys and Dinettes is one of the most frequently requested shows by Flat Rock Playhouse audiences. It’s a countrified musical packed with original and highly entertaining, toe-tappin’ tunes, presented as a love song to family and friends, both old and new.

Somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna, North Carolina, way down on Highway 57, the ‘Pump Boys’ sell high-octane gasoline, while the ‘Dinettes’ serve up plenty of pie and sass at the Double Cupp diner next door. Come sit a spell as the Pump Boys and Dinettes share their stories of heartache and hilarity with songs, live-instruments, and even a kitchen utensil or two.

Tickets are $15 - $40, with group sales available.

"Fly" Opens this Week at the Flat Rock Playhouse Telling the Story of the Tuskegee Airmen

September 10 - 27, 2015 The Flat Rock Playhouse presents "Fly". An important and inspiring story about the experiences and challenges of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African American flyers in the U.S. military during World War II.

Hailing from Chicago, Harlem, rural Iowa, and the Caribbean each arrive at boot camp with a dream to serve their country as combat fighter pilots. But they find that they must first combat racism and prejudice in the very military they have volunteered to serve.

Flat Rock Playhouse Presents "Crimes of the Heart" at the Hendersonville Playhouse Downtown

August 20 - September 6, 2015 Flat Rock Playhouse presents "Crimes of the Heart" at the Playhouse Downtown Meet Meg, Babe and Lenny, the Magrath sisters. Just your typical southern sisters who reconvene in their hometown of Hazlehurst, Mississippi at the home of their Old Grandaddy. Oh, but this is not your typical family reunion. Babe has just shot her abusive husband. And their mother has hung herself…and the beloved family cat. What unfolds is a beautifully rendered, often heartbreaking, often hilarious story of love, compassion and sisterhood.

A Christmas Carol at The Flat Rock Playhouse

November 20 - December 21, 2014 The Flat Rock Playhouse Presents A Christmas Carol The words of the Dickens classic come to life. This new, adventurous interpretation of A Christmas Carol takes the famous story and infuses it with laughter, love and a brand new score that celebrates the holiday season. With over a dozen new songs and exciting new characters, this world premier is a Christmas event for the whole family. Tickets are $40.

For 60 years the Flat Rock Playhouse, The State Theatre of North Carolina, has been thrilling audiences with Broadway musicals, comedy and drama. From the Youth Theatre education program to the professional main stage performances, the Flat Rock Playhouse offers some of the best live entertainment in Western North Carolina. Chimney Rock Park is named for a 500 million-year-old giant granite monolith overlooking Hickory Nut Gorge. The National Scenic Byways Program is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. The program is a grass-roots collaborative effort established to help recognize, preserve and enhance selected roads throughout the United States. Since 1992, the National Scenic Byways Program has provided funding for almost 1500 state and nationally designated byway projects in 48 states. The U.S. Secretary of Transportation recognizes certain roads as All-American Roads or National Scenic Byways based on one or more archeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational and scenic qualities.

Tsali Recreation Area is an outdoors lover's paradise. Probably the most popular features of Tsali Recreation Area are the 39 miles of trails suited for mountain bikers and horse-back riders, as well as hikers. The 4-loop system offers a variety of landscapes. You can climb 1-foot wide rugged paths or travel flat, well-beaten roads. The four trails--Right, Left, Mouse Branch, and Thompson Loops--meander through mixed pine and hardwoods on a peninsula stretching into Fontana Lake. Near Bryson City NC and Robbinsville NC.
