Father's Day Weekend Event: Wheels Through Time Museum Celebration with FREE Admission for Dads

June 15 - 16 Father's Day Celebration at Wheels Through Time Museum This Father's Day Weekend, Wheels Through Time Museum will be holding a special weekend celebration honoring fathers and the influence of fatherhood in society. The museum will be offering free admission to all father and son (and father & daughter) visitors throughout the weekend.

The Museum will be open from Thursday-Monday during Fathers Day Weekend, from 9a.m.-5p.m. Special demonstrations of rare machines will be held throughout the weekend, including Dale's 1936 Harley-Davidson VEL -- a machine he built in 2009 for his own father, Bernie.

Wheels through Time Museum is located at 62 Vintage Lane in Maggie Valley NC.

Maggie Valley Concert Series opens the 2013 Season this Sunday

May 19, 6:30 PM Maggie Valley Concert Series Live outdoor concert by the Haywood Community Band. Bring a blanket or a chair, picnic supper and enjoy the beautiful Maggie Valley sunset. The theme for this concert will be, "From the Library," and will feature memorable music from the past, including Over the Rainbow, Strike Up the Band, and All Shook up. The event is FREE and open to the public.

The concerts are performed on the third Sunday of the month from May through October at the Maggie Valley Pavilion next to the Maggie Valley Town Hall.

Maggie Valley hosts the Smoky Mountain Oyster & Seafood Festival this Weekend

April 20 Smoky Mountain Oyster & Seafood Festival A Food and Music Festival open to all ages. Steamed, Raw, BBQ'd Oysters and other Seafood. Oysters and other types of seafood will be sold by the 1/2 dozen. Additional taste treats include Hotdogs and Brats, a Grits Bar and BBQ for non-sea consumers. Enjoy NC Craft Beer and Wine, Live Music, a Silent Auction for Charity and more.

Regional Mustang Car Show and Event in Maggie Valley

September 21 - 22 39th Annual Fall Regional Mustang Event This is the oldest running Mustang Car Show in the world and is open to the public from 8 AM to 4 PM. The event is also open to any Ford body and powered products and is a popular vote car show.

Memorial Day Weekend Event: Military Special FREE Admission to Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum

May 25-27 Wheels Through Time Memorial Day Celebration This annual event is held to honor members of the American Military and their service to the United States of America. All those who are currently enlisted or who have served are admitted to Wheels Through Time free and provided with a complimentary two-year membership to the museum. The Blue Ridge Parkway at 469 miles long is the nation's longest scenic rural parkway. Now 70 years old it is administered by the National Park Service and host to approximately 20 million visits annually. Chimney Rock Park is named for a 500 million-year-old giant granite monolith overlooking Hickory Nut Gorge. Visitors are awed by the breathtaking view that spreads 1200 vertical feet beneath them and 75 miles across the Carolinas. The now state owned park encompasses 1,000 acres offers the best of the mountains in one place with spectacular 75-mile views, hiking trails for all ages, a 404-foot waterfall, a variety of special events and much more. The National Scenic Byways Program is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. The program is a grass-roots collaborative effort established to help recognize, preserve and enhance selected roads throughout the United States. Since 1992, the National Scenic Byways Program has provided funding for almost 1500 state and nationally designated byway projects in 48 states. The U.S. Secretary of Transportation recognizes certain roads as All-American Roads or National Scenic Byways based on one or more archeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational and scenic qualities.

Tsali Recreation Area is an outdoors lover's paradise. Probably the most popular features of Tsali Recreation Area are the 39 miles of trails suited for mountain bikers and horse-back riders, as well as hikers. The 4-loop system offers a variety of landscapes. You can climb 1-foot wide rugged paths or travel flat, well-beaten roads. The four trails--Right, Left, Mouse Branch, and Thompson Loops--meander through mixed pine and hardwoods on a peninsula stretching into Fontana Lake. Near Bryson City NC and Robbinsville NC.
