March 21 - May 19 Biltmore Blooms - The 28th Annual Festival of Flowers. Biltmore's gardens, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, are alive with color as spring arrives. Enjoy special events and the beauty of tulips, azaleas, and countless other flowers during Biltmore Blooms.

For the first time, guests will be able to step down into the Winter Garden to enjoy a display of exotic orchids intimately, just as George and Edith Vanderbilt's guests might have. Some of the plants will be the same species that were planned for the Biltmore Conservatory in 1894. Outdoors, enjoy a beautiful progression of blooms from tulips to pansies, azaleas, and much more.

Last Chance to experience 2012 Candlelight Evenings at Biltmorefor Biltmore

Now through December 31 you still have the opportunity to see the remarkable 29th Annual Candlelight Evenings at Biltmore. As daylight fades into dusk, candlelight and firelight accent Biltmore House’s extravagant holiday décor, accented by live entertainment and outside illuminations.

Biltmore House glows with holiday spirit, appearing much as it would have at the turn of the 19th century. Carols from choirs and ensembles fill the halls with festive sounds. Candlelight Christmas Evenings tickets are available by reservation only, and include a self-guided candlelight tour of Biltmore House, next-day visit to the gardens, Antler Hill Village and Biltmore Winery. Advance reservations are required.

Biltmore - America's "Castle" - was built in 1895 by George Vanderbuilt and is preserved and maintained today by his descendants. With interior square footage over 4 acres, 250 rooms, 65 fireplaces, 43 bathrooms and an impressive collection of art and period furnishing it is one of the East's most popular attractions. Once a working dairy farm the 8,000 acre estate now includes a winery; trails, gardens & grounds to explore; an Equestrian Center, River Bend Farm, a luxury Inn and the newest addition, Antler Village. Plan on spending at least one full day or more to fully enjoy all that Biltmore has to offer.

It's Christmas at Biltmore!

Now through January 1st Asheville's renowned Biltmore has brought down all the Christmas decorations from the attic and is aglow with Christmas magic. Christmas at Biltmore, America's largest home, is an experience like no other with dozens of Christmas trees, hundreds of wreaths, bows, and poinsettias. You'll find miles of evergreen garland along with thousands of ornaments, tinsel, and beading. And the "crowning glory" is a magnificent 35-foot Fraser fir adorning the front lawn and welcoming all visitors, elves and maybe the beloved jolly Bearded-one himself.

Tiffany Exhibit another reason to visit Biltmore

We can think of at least 100 reasons why you should visit Biltmore in Asheville NC. The one-of-a-kind attraction hosts about 1 million visitors each year who marvel at the history, beauty and accomplishments of the Estate. And from July 1 through October 23 there is yet another reason to include a day - or a week - at Biltmore on this year's mountain vacation.

Tiffany at Biltmore is an exhibition of 45 stained glass lamps created by Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) and The Tiffany Studios. This remarkable collection of stained glass lamps and objects was organized by The Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass in New York, and features Tiffany's most admired designs drawn from the natural world.

In addition to the exhibition, Biltmore's talented landscape and floral designers are incorporating Tiffany-inspired elements throughout the gardens and in Biltmore House:

Dramatic 40-foot dragonflies created from flowers and foliage, resembling Tiffany's iconic stained glass fixtures
Floral décor in Biltmore House inspired by Tiffany's love of botanicals
Unique 24-foot "Living Wall" of flowers, foliage, and vines mimic stained glass, next to the Conservatory

The exhibition is located at The Biltmore Legacy in Antler Village and is included in daily admission to Biltmore.

The Blue Ridge Parkway at 469 miles long is the nation's longest scenic rural parkway. Now 70 years old it is administered by the National Park Service and host to approximately 20 million visits annually. It connects the Shenandoah Valley National Park with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee. The River Arts District is open year around with the opportunity to meet artists in their studios. Schedules are available online. Chimney Rock Park is named for a 500 million-year-old giant granite monolith overlooking Hickory Nut Gorge. Visitors are awed by the breathtaking view that spreads 1200 vertical feet beneath them and 75 miles across the Carolinas. The now state owned park encompasses 1,000 acres offers the best of the mountains in one place with spectacular 75-mile views, hiking trails for all ages, a 404-foot waterfall, a variety of special events and much more. The National Scenic Byways Program is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. The program is a grass-roots collaborative effort established to help recognize, preserve and enhance selected roads throughout the United States. Since 1992, the National Scenic Byways Program has provided funding for almost 1500 state and nationally designated byway projects in 48 states. The U.S. Secretary of Transportation recognizes certain roads as All-American Roads or National Scenic Byways based on one or more archeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational and scenic qualities.

Tsali Recreation Area is an outdoors lover's paradise. Probably the most popular features of Tsali Recreation Area are the 39 miles of trails suited for mountain bikers and horse-back riders, as well as hikers. The 4-loop system offers a variety of landscapes. You can climb 1-foot wide rugged paths or travel flat, well-beaten roads. The four trails--Right, Left, Mouse Branch, and Thompson Loops--meander through mixed pine and hardwoods on a peninsula stretching into Fontana Lake. Near Bryson City NC and Robbinsville NC.
