Event: Music on Main Street Deano and the Dreamers / Oldies The annual Music On Main Street concert series will be held every Friday evening from June through August. Music On Main Street showcases a diverse lineup of musical talents, from jazz, pop, oldies, rock, to contemporary music with room to dance. There will also be a classic car show sponsored by the Hendersonville Antique Car Club. Bring a chair and enjoy the music from 7 PM - 9 PM. Admission is FREE.

Labor Day Weekend Event: Smoky Mountain Folk Festival
August 31 - September 1 Annual Smoky Mountain Folk Festival Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center offers two nights of the finest traditional music and dance of the Southern Appalachian Region. The main shows begin at 6:00 PM, both Friday and Saturday, on the grand stage of the Stuart Auditorium overlooking beautiful Lake Junaluska.
Both nights will include a rich variety of the region's finest fiddlers, banjo players, string bands, ballad singers, buck dancers, and square dance teams as well as the marvelous sounds of dulcimer, harmonica, juice harp, bagpipes, spoons, saws, and folk ensembles. Smoky Mountain Folk Festival Tickets are available at the door for $12 per night. Advanced sale tickets are $10 per night, and can be purchased at the Haywood County Arts Council office at 86 N. Main Street in Waynesville, or at the front desk of the Administration Building at Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center The special children's tent performances are free.

NC State Bluegrass Festival in Marion
August 16-18 38th Annual NC State Bluegrass Festival Featuring Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys, Rhonda Vincent & the Rage, The Primitive Quartet, Bobby Osborne & the Rocky Top X-press, Rye Holler Boys, The Troubadours and dozens more.
Tickets are available at the gate or in advance by calling 706-864-7203. The event is held "rain or shine" with performances under covered pavilion. The cafe will be serving breakfast and lunch, with hot food and other concessions also available. Bring your lawn chairs - no alcohol, smoking or pets in the performance area.

Old Time Bluegrass Fiddlers Convention
August 3-4 Old Time Bluegrass Fiddlers Convention A bluegrass and old-time music competition with lots of jamming and socializing among the musicians. Visitors are welcome to listen to this traditional display of bluegrass music. The event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of the Jeffersons‚ and advance tickets are available from the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce.

features a sanctioned professional BBQ competition, a wings contest, public
tastings, live bluegrass music, a cornhole tournament, championship clogging
teams, craft vendors, BBQ equipment and supplies vendors, local food vendors,
the Spruce Pine Skedaddle 5K and Fun Run, a kids play-area.
The highlight of the weekend is a professional BBQ competition, sanctioned by the Southern BBQ Network. Competition categories
include pork butts, pork ribs (spare ribs or baby back ribs only), and chicken
wings. BBQ Bucks will be sold to the public for the purchase of wings, BBQ sandwiches, BBQ plates, and BBQ by the pound.
One of the featured bluegras bands is Balsam Range,

IBMA Song of the Year and performer of the #1 Bluegrass hit "Last Train to Kitty Hawk." Based in
Haywood County, North Carolina, Balsam Range consists of five men native to the
region. Lucky Streak,
Ron and Minnie Powell, have been together as a
couple for over thirty years, and have been singing as a duo for almost twenty
years. Barefoot Movement is a group of talented musicians from
North Carolina and Tennessee whose music successfully melds Americana influences
with the invigoration of acoustic modern rock and jazz.
