It's Time for the Peanuts Pumpkin Patch Express on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad

October 9 - 11, 2015    Peanuts Pumpkin Patch Express    The PEANUTS gang return to the the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Pumpkin Patch for this annual family fun favorite. The excursions, which are themed after Charles M. Schulz's classic story "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," will be departing from the Bryson City NC Depot and arriving at the Pumpkin Patch. 

Event activities include campfire marshmallows, a coloring station, temporary tattoos, trick or treating, bouncy house, hayrides and live musical entertainment. There are two trips per day at 12 PM and 3:30 PM.

Wooly Worm Festival this weekend in Banner Elk NC

October 20-21    Wooly Worm Festival   The 35th Annual Festival includes the infamous worm races along with live entertainment, arts and crafts, food vendors and amusement rides. A family-oriented weekend and one of the most popular NC mountain annual events.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. The Festival is open
Saturday 9 AM - 5PM and Sunday from 9 AM - 4 PM in beautiful downtown Banner Elk NC.

All proceeds benefits local community organizations including schools, children's programs and Avery county businesses and tourism activities.

July 8 The Big Crafty at the Asheville Art Museum Today

July 8  The Big Crafty returns to the Asheville Art Museum. The event celebrates and showcases the fine wares of over 100 independent indie crafters, artists and makers. The complete line up of participating artists is now available online. This is a free, family-friendly event.

In addition to the Craft Event, be sure to browse the Museum's many current exhibits. Stop by the Family Art pARTy from 1 PM to 4 PM offering Hands-on art activities for all ages.

Family Wellness Today at Chimney Rock Park

June 2  "On the Move" Family Wellness Day   For decades Chimney Rock Park has promoted hiking as a great way to stay fit and connect with nature. During 2nd annual Family Wellness Day both adults and children are encouraged to get “On the Move” at Chimney Rock and learn how to establish a healthier exercise routine and diet.

ere will be guided hikes, health screenings and lots of information on healthy living from many community partners.
