Chuckleball Performance this weekend in Blowing Rock

April 15 head for Blowing Rock NC and Chuckleball. The hit comedy musical parody (think The Capitol Steps of sports) is part of the Blue Ridge Wine & Food Festival in Blowing Rock. Where can you see all of your favorite teams and athletes roasted to the tune of your favorite songs? Sports lovers and sports haters both agree that Chuckleball is one of the most unique theatrical experiences, a musical twist at the corner of pop culture and parody.Chickleball is performed at the Hayes Performing Arts Center on Jamie Fort Road, just off US 321 in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.

An Evening with Puccini at the Hayes Performing Arts Center in Blowing Rock

March 24-27 at The Hayes Performing Arts Center ASU Music: An Evening with Puccini, 2 one-act operas (sung in English). Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi are two of Puccini's Il trittico, three one-act operas with contrasting themes, all written in 1918. Gorgeous and romantic orchestral settings, thrilling voices and evocative lighting will make it an evening to remember. Performances of An Evening with Puccini are March 24-26 at 8pm and March 27 at 2pm. All shows will be performed at the Hayes Performing Arts Center in Blowing Rock. Tickets: $10 adults, $5 for students; and available by calling ASU's Farthing Auditorium Box Office at 800-841-2787. ASU staff will also be selling tickets at the Hayes Performing Arts Center in Blowing Rock one hour prior to each performance via cash or check only.

Lake Junaluska Hosts the 10th Annual Appalachian Christmas

Dec 10 at LAKE JUNALUSKA NC the 10th Annual Appalachian Christmas is a heartwarming musical celebration of the season with Ricky Skaggs and his talented family sharing songs from "A Skaggs Family Christmas." In addition, the Lake Junaluska Singers will deliver an outstanding performance in Stuart Auditorium under the direction of Dr. Melodie Galloway. Persons will also enjoy the annual Appalachian Christmas Craft Show, which features items and crafts of local artists.

Music in the Mountains Evening Concert Series

MUSIC IN THE MOUNTAINS is a FREE Concert Series on Saturday Evenings from June-Oct. Regional talent is showcased in a relaxed, outdoor venue located in the heart of historic downtown. Bring a chair or blanket and settle in for an evening of great music from 6:30 - 8:00PM, Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Depot, Everett Street, Bryson City North Carolina. 22nd Annual Merlefest - An Americana Music Festival

April 29 - May 2, Wilkesboro Community College, Wilkesboro North Carolina. Merlefest - Four day Americana music festival beginning the last weekend starting with Thursday in April spread all over the Wilkes Community College campus hosted by Doc & Richard Watson in memory of Eddy Merle Watson since 1988. The East Coast Chamber Orchestra at The Porter Center

The Blue Ridge Parkway at 469 miles long is the nation's longest scenic rural parkway. The River Arts District is open year around with the opportunity to meet artists in their studios. Schedules are available online. This unique area along the French Broad River is home to more than 165 artists with working studios located in 18 turn-of-the-century industrial buildings. The artists of the River Arts District welcome you into their studios to talk with them, see their latest artwork, watch demonstrations, and experience for yourself the magic hidden inside the time-worn factories and warehouses along the French Broad River.

Chimney Rock Park is named for a 500 million-year-old giant granite monolith overlooking Hickory Nut Gorge. Visitors are awed by the breathtaking view that spreads 1200 vertical feet beneath them and 75 miles across the Carolinas. The now state owned park encompasses 1,000 acres offers the best of the mountains in one place with spectacular 75-mile views, hiking trails for all ages, a 404-foot waterfall, a variety of special events and much more. The National Scenic Byways Program is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. The program is a grass-roots collaborative effort established to help recognize, preserve and enhance selected roads throughout the United States. Since 1992, the National Scenic Byways Program has provided funding for almost 1500 state and nationally designated byway projects in 48 states. The U.S. Secretary of Transportation recognizes certain roads as All-American Roads or National Scenic Byways based on one or more archeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational and scenic qualities.

Tsali Recreation Area is an outdoors lover's paradise. Probably the most popular features of Tsali Recreation Area are the 39 miles of trails suited for mountain bikers and horse-back riders, as well as hikers. The 4-loop system offers a variety of landscapes. You can climb 1-foot wide rugged paths or travel flat, well-beaten roads. The four trails--Right, Left, Mouse Branch, and Thompson Loops--meander through mixed pine and hardwoods on a peninsula stretching into Fontana Lake. Near Bryson City NC and Robbinsville NC.
