Halloween Events: Beary Scary Halloween on Grandfather Mountain

October 31, 2015   Beary Scary Halloween at Grandfather Mountain   Celebrate Halloween early at Grandfather Mountain with a full day of crafts, nature programs, trick-or-treating in the animal habitats and a costume contest. 

Participate in an interactive program titled “Going Batty for Bats.” Children in costume enter the park for half-price. Events are included with park admission. 


Grandfather mountain is the highest mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountain range at an elevation of 5,964 feet.  The Mile High Swinging Bridge gives visitors easy access to the breath-taking view from Grandfather Mountain's Linville Peak. 

Grandfather Mountain is a Nature Lovers' favorite offering Wildlife habitats, Nature Walks and Trails, Nature Programs, and a Nature Museum.  The complex natural terrain includes 16 different classifications of natural communities with backcountry trails providing access to all.

Fun for the whole family, this ghastly special event admission includes: all the nighttime activities in the park - the ride on the Ghost Train, trick-or-treating for the kids, Haunted House, Tweetsie Palace Spooktacular, the rides in the Creepy Carnival, and the attractions in "The Boneyard” section, featuring the Black Hole, 3-D maze, and the “Freaky Forest.”

Peanuts Pumpkin Patch Express on The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad

October 11-13   Peanuts Pumpkin Patch Express   The PEANUTS gang return the the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Pumpkin Patch for this annual family fun favorite. The excursions, which are themed after Charles M. Schulz's classic story "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," will be departing from the Bryson City Depot and arriving at the Pumpkin Patch.

Listen to
a narration of Schulz’s “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” as the train travels through the beautiful fall leaf color to the Pumpkin Patch. Upon arrival, passengers will be greeted and have a photo opportunity with Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Snoopy. During the 1 hour and 45min layover, your activities will include: campfire marshmallows, a coloring station, temporary tattoos, trick or treating, bouncy house, hayrides and live musical entertainment.

And kids - don’t forget to wear your Halloween costumes. There will be plenty of PEANUTS™ merchandise at the Smoky Mountain Trains gift shop for those who would like a souvenir.  Each child will also select their own pumpkin from The Great Pumpkin Patch to take home.

Halloween Event: Halloween Day Celebration in Dillsboro

October 31  Halloween Day Celebration  A family-oriented costume parade starts at 6 PM at Town Hall on Front Street. Kids, parents and friends are encouraged to enter the costume contest – there will be prizes for several categories. Trick or Treat around downtown from 4 - 7 PM. Free movies, music and more. Vote for the spookiest shop.

Halloween Event: Treats on the Street in Waynesville

October 31      Treats on the Street   Downtown Waynesville merchants will open their doors for trick-or-treaters on Wednesday evening. This is a safe and fun adventure for costumed children and their parents to stroll the streets in search of delicious candy and special treats offered by participating Main Street businesses and the Waynesville Fire and Police Departments.
