NC Fall Leaf Event: The Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands

October 20 - 23   Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands   One of the largest and most notable craft fairs in the southeast, held twice annually at the Asheville Civic Auditorium.  Enjoy exhibitors, demonstrations and entertainment. The fair showcases the rich diversity of original crafts created by members of the Southern Highland Craft Guild, a non-profit organization with over 900 members throughout the mountain region.
This year's demonstrations include:
Asheville Bookworks:  Variety of bookmaking techniques including a letter press.
Charlie Patricolo:  An interactive demonstration of cloth doll making with a variety of dolls in various stages.
Dede Styles and Cassie Dickson:  natural dyeing and spinning.  Dede Styles of Swannanoa, NC and Cassie Dickson of Sylva, NC will demonstrate their traditional craft outside the Civic Center.
Gary Clontz:  Raku Pottery.  Gary will demonstrate all aspects of raku firing outside the Civic Center, from glazing the pot to firing it.  Raku is a ceramic firing process which uses fire and smoke to create unique patterns and designs.

Live mountain music
will be performed all three days beginning at  11 AM.

Village Art & Craft Fair this Weekend

August 6-7, Saturday 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM; Sunday Noon to 6:00 PM - Village Art & Craft Fair.    New Morning Gallery and Bellagio sponsor the Village Art and Craft Fair on the grounds of the Cathedral of all Souls in Biltmore Village. In its 39th year, the VACF continues a long tradition of bringing high-quality crafts to Biltmore Village.

The fair hosts 125 artists from 17 states, representing the full spectrum of craft media - jewelry, ceramic, wood, fiber, metals, two-dimensional art and more. The craft fair is a great opportunity to encounter new artists (15 are first-time exhibitors) and to talk with crafters one-on-one. Most exhibitors are not represented at New Morning Gallery, so visitors are sure to find new treasures along with a few old favorites.

Over the years, the Fair has earned a reputation as one of the finest craft fairs in the area. Thousands of shoppers from all over the southeast arrive to stroll through the fair, discovering unique gifts for friends, family and themselves!

64th Annual Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands

July 21 - 24    64th Annual Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands   This bi-annual event is one of the largest and most notable craft fairs in the southeast. The Craft Fair is held each July and October at the Asheville Civic Auditorium, drawing 1000s of visitors from across the country since the Fair began in 1948

Enjoy exhibitors, demonstrations and entertainment. More than 200 craftspeople fill the two levels of the center with a diversity unlike any other craft show. Works range from centuries old traditions to the latest in contemporary techniques and materials, and include clay, fiber, glass, leather, metal, mixed media, natural materials, paper, wood and jewelry.
Local musicians share their love of traditional and bluegrass mountain music live on the arena stage. Get a complete schedule or performances here.

All exhibitors are members of the Southern Highlands Craft Guild a non-profit, educational organization established in 1930 to bring together the crafts and craftspeople of the Southern Highlands for the benefit of shared resources, education, marketing and conservation. The Craft Fairs are one of the ways in which the Guild fulfills its mission.

54th annual Mount Mitchell Crafts Fair in Burnsville

August 6 - 7  Burnsville North Carolina hosts the 54th annual Mount Mitchell Crafts Fair. More than 200 juried crafters display nearly every kind of handmade craft imaginable. Thousands of people attend this annual event, which again has been named one of the Southeast's Top 20 August Events by the Southeast Tourism Society. The two day event includes a variety of live music performances - get a complete schedule.  This is a Blue Ridge Parkway 75 Event.

June 5 -6, various locations throughout downtown Black Mountain North Carolina. The Black Mountain Arts and Crafts Show endeavors to promote the highest quality crafts, held in the middle of Historic Black Mountain. Come enjpy food and cold drinks at the west end of town at The Old Depot.

Annual Art and Craft Show in Highlands

May 29 -30 HIGHLANDS North Carolina. Village Square Art & Craft Show Highlands Civic Center & Recreation Park. Regional artists selling fine art, folk art, jewelry, rustic furniture, birdhouses, pottery, fabric art, baskets and more.

The Village Square show, however, won’t be at its customary location in the Highlands Village Square and Pine Street Park. Because the park will be under construction, the show will temporarily move to the Highlands Rec Park, just a short walk from downtown, where there is lots of room for tents, music and food, plus rest rooms and free parking.

The show is from 10 to 5 both Saturday and Sunday, May 29/30th. The show goes on rain or shine, but if it looks like rain we will set up in the Civic Center on the same property.

Christmas Boutique in Rutherfordton

Members of the Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild are sponsoring their first Christmas Boutique sale of one-of-a-kind, handmade art and fine craft items. On display and available for purchase are paintings in all mediums, ceramics, wood crafts, sculpture, fused and stained glass, metal work, hand-made furniture, fiber art, and other creations of talented Rutherford County Guild members. Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair
