Radio, Records and Rabble-rouser at the Blue Ridge Music Center

On July 30th, at the Blue Ridge Music Center there will be a special tribute concert to rural musicians who gained fame in the 20s and 30s as pioneers of country music radio and recording.

New North Carolina Ramblers

The New North Carolina Ramblers will perform stringband music in the tradition of such legendary artists as Charlie Poole, The Carter Family and the Floyd County Ramblers with a little country humor thrown in. The band features Kirk Sutphin (fiddle) and Jeremy Stephens (fiddle/guitar), Darren Moore (guitar/autoharp) and Kinney Rorrer (banjo) who is the great nephew of Charlie Poole and Posey Rorrer.

Opening up the concert will be award winning, fiddler, Mark Campbell and banjoist/author, Joe Ayres from Richmond, VA who will play old-time music from the Virginias including minstrel and Civil war era tunes.

Tickets for the July 30th concert are $10 or $8 five days in advance. Buy tickets here . Children 12 and under are free. Concert starts at 7pm and seating opens at 5:30pm. At 5pm there will be a small theater pre-concert talk "," (free with concert ticket), featuring both groups. Seating limited. Reserve ahead. Smokehouse BBQ available at the concert. The Blue Ridge Music Center is located at milepost 213 on the Blue Ridge Parkway - just across the state line in Galax VA.
