The Christmas Season begins in the Mountains

It's always magical in the NC mountains, but with the addition of twinkling lights, holiday wrappings, lively parades and even the jolly old man himself, the magic in the mountains is like no other. This weekend many of the mountain cities begin their holiday seasons:

Nov16 - Jan 1   ASHEVILLE    19th Century Carolina Christmas   Celebrate Christmas the old-fashioned way. The Smith-McDowell House Museum's time-line of authentically decorated period rooms showcase the evolution of Christmas celebrations and decorations.

Nov 18   MURPHY   The Murphy Hometown Christmas Celebration begins at 6 PM Friday with a tree lighting ceremony, music and entertainment. Shopping day will be Saturday, November 19th, complete with Santa strolling around town and merchants offering incentives to shoppers such as sales, snacks, etc

Nov 19   WEST JEFFERSON   Annual Holiday Parade   Annual holiday parade through downtown West Jefferson featuring the Ashe County High School band and Santa on an antique fire engine.

The fun begins at 6 PM - lighted "car-truck", Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine, music by the Andrews High Jazz Band, Christmas carols and Santa.
