Annual Martin Luther King Jr Peace March and Rally in Asheville NC

January 18, 2016 Annual Peace March and Rally celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day will take place beginning at St. James AME Church at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Hildebrand Street and continuing to City-County Plaza in Pack Square Park.

There will be a Candlelight Service at 6:00 PM at Nazareth First Baptist Church. All the days events are FREE and open to the public.

Beech Mountain Holds Annual Winterfest Beer Festival This Weekend

January 9, 2016 2016 WinterFest Beer Festival Over a dozen featured breweries and cider makers will be presenting over fifty varieties of brews. Winterfest is the perfect time to expand your beer and cider knowledge. The NC Beer Guys, Carolina Glenn and Dave, will be on hand to answer any of your North Carolina beer questions. Doors open at 3 PM and the event lasts through 7 PM.

Sample a variety of craft beers and enjoy music from Acoustic Syndicate. The participating breweries were hand selected to best represent the beer of North Carolina. The National Scenic Byways Program is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. The program is a grass-roots collaborative effort established to help recognize, preserve and enhance selected roads throughout the United States. Since 1992, the National Scenic Byways Program has provided funding for almost 1500 state and nationally designated byway projects in 48 states. The U.S. Secretary of Transportation recognizes certain roads as All-American Roads or National Scenic Byways based on one or more archeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational and scenic qualities.

Tsali Recreation Area is an outdoors lover's paradise. Probably the most popular features of Tsali Recreation Area are the 39 miles of trails suited for mountain bikers and horse-back riders, as well as hikers. The 4-loop system offers a variety of landscapes. You can climb 1-foot wide rugged paths or travel flat, well-beaten roads.
