Easter Events: Annual Dillsboro Easter Hat Parade

April 7    Annual Dillsboro Easter Hat Parade - Arrive at 10 am to make a hat, or bring your own pre-made version. Registration starts at 11AM. The parade starts from Dillsboro Town Hall at 2:00 PM. Open to all ladies, gentlemen, children and dogs.

Easter Events: All Aboard the PEANUTS™ Easter Beagle Express!

 April 6-7  -  PEANUTS™ Easter Beagle Express!  on The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. Trains will depart the historic Bryson City depot at 10:30 AM. The train will travel along the Tuckasegee River into the quaint town of Dillsboro North Carolina for the 1 ½ hour layover.

Passengers will join Snoopy, Lucy, Charlie Brown and our Easter Bunnies for old fashioned Easter fun! Festivities during the layover include crafts, coloring sheets, temporary tattoos, live music and snacks with Snoopy and more. Join in the on-going Easter egg hunt for special prizes and of course lots of candy.


Advance tickets are required, as seating is limited. Adult tickets are $49 and children, ages 2-12, are $29. Hurry, tickets are going fast! Advanced reservations are suggested for this special event train.

EasterEvents: PEANUTS™ Easter Beagle Express on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad

Chimney Rock's 57th Annual Easter Sunrise Service

April   8   57th Annual Easter Sunrise Service at Chimney Rock   Celebrate Easter with song, scripture and spiritual music as a spectacular sunrise appears over Lake Lure. Chimney Rock's annual Easter Sunrise Service has become a legendary event in WNC, attracting more than 1,000 early risers from around the Southeast each year.

This free non-denominational Easter celebration features live instrumental music, spiritual songs, and breathtaking scenery. The event is now in its 57th year, and a number of locals have not missed any since the first event in 1955! This is one of the few times each year that residents and guests can see the sun rise over Lake Lure from high atop Chimney Rock Mountain. FREE and open to the public.

Easter Events: Easter Egg Hunt Today on Sugar Mountain

March 18  Easter Egg Hunt  Dress up in your Easter costume and join Sugar Bear and Sweetie Bear on the slopes in search of prize-filled eggs. You may be the lucky winner of a season pass! Valid lift/slope tickets or passes are required for participation. Event is for children 12 and under ONLY and begins at 9 AM at the bottom of the Summit #1 lift.

Candle Light Ghost Tours this weekend in Wilkesboro NC

May 20 - 21   head for Wilkesboro NC and the Candle Light Ghost Tours for an evening of tales, mystery and haunts. Learn about the ghosts that haunt the old buildings of downtown Wilkesboro. You will also visit a cemetery where Civil War Soldiers are buried, stand in the jail cell where Tom Dooley spent his last days and listen to the stories of the haunted Smithey Hotel. Tours start at 7:30pm.

Easter Day Spring Hike

April 24 Enjoy all the glory of Spring in the NC Mountains on a Wildflower Hike. Join a Ranger on a 1 mile hike to see the wildflowers of Spring. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the beauty while leaving it undisturbed for others to enjoy. The hike takes place at New River State Park's Wagoner Access at 2:00 p.m. 336-982-2587 The park is located near West Jefferson in Laurel Springs NC.

Easter Sunday Brunch in the NC Mountains

Easter Sunday Brunch is a tradition at many restaurants and Inns throughout the Western North Carolina. Many restaurants include fresh fruits and vegetables and products from local farms. There is something for every taste bud and diet including: smoked salmon, Chilled Shrimp, Raspberry Brie en Croute, Belgian Waffles, omelets, Grilled Asparagus, Field Greens Salad, Roasted Vegetable Medley, carved lamb and other meats, turkey, chicken,  and deserts such as a Chocolate Fountain with Fresh Fruit, Southern Coconut Cake, White Chocolate Banana Cream Tart and apple cobbler.

Easter Event: Easter Extravaganza in Blowing Rock

April 3, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Blowing Rock North Carolina. Join the Easter Bunny on the slopes for pictures, two Easter Egg Hunts and a special Easter Brunch. The Egg Hunts include lots of hidden prizes including a Junior Season Membership, more than 1000 Easter Eggs, and candy. The first hunt begins at 9:30 AM, for skiers and riders ages 6-1, on Appalachian’s Intermediate slope Strudel. After the on-slope Easter Egg Hunt at 11:30 AM, children ages 5 and under can find Easter Eggs on the grassy knoll beside the Appalachian Ice Arena. A raw egg toss contest will begin at 2:00 pm, for participants 12 and older (prizes for longest toss and biggest splash).
