Holidar Bazaar at the Historic Carson House

November 15   Historic Carson House Luncheon and Holiday Bazaar   Held at St. John’s Episcopal Church Parish House  from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM. St. John's Parrish House is located at 289 S. Main Street in downtown Marion. Join members of the Carson House Partners to purchase crafts, baked goods and peruse a white elephant sale. Enjoy a soup and salad lunch from 11:00 AM. - 2 PM.  All of the proceeds from this bazaar go to benefit the Historic Carson House.

Foothills Holiday Arts and Craft Show this Weekend in Marion

November 9 - 10   Foothills Holiday Arts and Craft Show   The area’s best talent will be showcased for two days of art and crafts including oil, pastel and watercolor paintings, drawings, wood and metal works, textile arts, jewelry and much more. Commercial vendors are not allowed at this event. You’ll find regional artists with unique points of view in their work.

The event will be set up inside and outside the Corpening YMCA and live music will add to the festive atmosphere.

New Year's Eve Celebration in Marion NC

 December 31   New Year's Eve Celebration   Come out to historic downtown Marion between 9:00 PM and midnight to ring in the New year with music, food, carriage rides and more. Downtown businesses will be open with their own form of entertainment including the McDowell Arts Council at 50 South Main Street where you can enjoy "the oldies" and a dance floor for a little toe tapping! This is a free event on Main Street with street vendors and musicians providing entertainment for all ages...

NC Holiday Event: Blue Ridge Christmas Crafts Show

December 1 - 24   Blue Ridge Artisans Show and Sale  An annual event open daily inside the McDowell Arts Council's Gallery. Free admission and you'll find a huge selection of textiles, wood, clay, silver and other mediums ranging from functional pieces to jewelry and decorative items plus books penned by local authors.

Hours are 10-6 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and Wednesday and Saturdays between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

8th Annual Tour De Lure Bike Ride Today in Marion

April 7      8th Annual Tour De Lure Bike Ride  Two rides one for the "hard core" cyclist and a fun ride begin at 9 AM.  The Dewey Hughes Memorial Ride is a challenging one, beginning at Marion's YMCA traveling through rolling farmlands, up Stone Mountain, around Lake Lure, through Chimney Rock and returning to Marion for a total of 67 miles.

The Fun Ride begins at the same time and place
(same fees), but takes you on an exciting 25 mile course through rolling hillsides and farmlands. Applications available online or at the Corpening YMCA in Marion. Free Spaghetti meal for participants after the ride.
