Flat Rock Playhouse Music on the Rock Series: Donna Summer & the Sounds of the 70s Brings "the Diva of Disco" to Hendersonville

October 16 - 20 Music on the Rock: Donna Summer & the Sounds of the 70s It’s going to a be a party at Playhouse Downtown with a tribute to the original Diva of Disco. Reva Rice returns to Flat Rock Playhouse for a dance celebration that includes hits like, “Last Dance,” “She Works Hard For Her Money,” and “I Will Survive.” The 2013 concert series produced by The Flat Rock Theatre offers a celebration of music form country to pop to Sinatra.

Reva Rice's Broadway and international starring credits include Starlight Express, Fosse and Chicago. She has starred in the first national tours of Starlight Express, Smokey Joe’s Café, Fosse, Chicago and Just Off the Road from Oprah Winfrey’s The Color Purple. Rice has worked with such greats as Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Patrick Swayze, Chaka Khan, Dolly Parton, Melissa Manchester, American Idol’s Fantasia and many more. She also performs and produces cabaret acts around the world. Reva Las Vegas is a 90-minute revue based on her journey back and forth from Broadway Babe to Vegas Vixen and her dance show band, The Jewelry Box.

Dolly Parton Songs Featured at the Flat Rock Playhouse Music on the Rock Series

The Blue Ridge Parkway at 469 miles long is the nation's longest scenic rural parkway. Chimney Rock Park is named for a 500 million-year-old giant granite monolith overlooking Hickory Nut Gorge. The National Scenic Byways Program is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. The program is a grass-roots collaborative effort established to help recognize, preserve and enhance selected roads throughout the United States. Since 1992, the National Scenic Byways Program has provided funding for almost 1500 state and nationally designated byway projects in 48 states. The U.S. Secretary of Transportation recognizes certain roads as All-American Roads or National Scenic Byways based on one or more archeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational and scenic qualities.

Tsali Recreation Area is an outdoors lover's paradise. Probably the most popular features of Tsali Recreation Area are the 39 miles of trails suited for mountain bikers and horse-back riders, as well as hikers. The 4-loop system offers a variety of landscapes. You can climb 1-foot wide rugged paths or travel flat, well-beaten roads. The four trails--Right, Left, Mouse Branch, and Thompson Loops--meander through mixed pine and hardwoods on a peninsula stretching into Fontana Lake. Near Bryson City NC and Robbinsville NC.
