Cherokee Indian Fair Begins This Week

October 7 - 11, 2014    102th Annual Cherokee Indian Fair    Part carnival, part art exhibit and agriculture show, this annual fair features artwork, traditional Cherokee food, nightly musical entertainment, rides and games, and of course, fireworks.

You’ll find Cherokee white oak baskets, pottery and beadwork, and you’ll marvel and the traditional Cherokee contests and competitions like the infamous Cherokee Stickball games. While you’re on the Ferris wheel, be sure to take in the gorgeous fall foliage that engulfs the Great Smoky Mountains this time of year.

Summer Cherokee Carnival begins this Week

June 11 - 15   Annual Cherokee Summer Carnival   This family-friendly event will feature carnival rides, music, games, classic carnival food and other great family fun. This five day event also features plenty of local food vendors as well as arts and crafts.

Cherokee The Rumble in the Rhododendron Fly Fishing Tournament

November 2-4   The Rumble in the Rhododendron Fly Fishing Tournament  $10,000 in prize money awarded to 1st place team ($5,000), 2nd place team ($3,000) and 3rd place team ($2,000) This two person team fly fishing competition is held on the 2.2 miles of Trophy, Catch-and-Release water on the Cherokee Reservation.

A modified fips mouche format will be used with a tag out system being incorporated as only one team member may fish at a time. Fishing sessions are three hours long. Registration fee includes tournament registration for two people, competitor swag, several meals during the competition and more.

"Cruise the Smokies" Spring Rod Run in Cherokee

June 8-10   "Cruise the Smokies" Spring Rod Run   500 of the nation’s hottest looking classic cars gather to cruise the most scenic drive in North Carolina. More than 3,000 car enthusiasts will turn out for the Southeast’s premiere Rod Run at the Acquoni Expo Center. Gates will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM on Friday and Saturday; 9 AM to noon on Sunday.

Annual Cherokee Summer Festival Begins Today

June 5-9  Cherokee Summer Carnival   An annual summer carnival, complete with rides, games and plenty of your favorite carnival foods. This five day event also features local food vendors and arts and crafts.The event is held on the  Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds in downtown Cherokee NC.
