FREE Concert Tonight in Hendersonville NC

June 29, 2015   Monday Night Live concert series   featuring  Pop the Clutch.  These summer concerts are held at the Visitors Center in historic downtown Hendersonville NC

Bring a lawn chair, but no pets or alcohol. The seating area opens after 5:30 PM and the concerts are from 7 PM - 9 PM

Annual Fishing Derby on Beech Mountain this Weekend

June 27, 2015   Beech Mountain Kid’s Fishing Derby   Held on Lake Coffee this annual event begins at 9 AM. Enjoy a great day with the family and a stocked lake full of trout and other fish. Children 12 and under only may enter the derby. Prizes are awarded for various categories, and there is no charge.

Grandfather Mountain Hosts Night Hike

June 26, 2015  The Beauty of the Night Guided Hike   8 PM   Join Grandfather Mountain naturalists for a guided walk to challenge your senses and experience the beauty of the night atop beautiful Grandfather Mountain. 

This one-and-a-half-hour walk will explore various locations on the Mountain, talking about nocturnal animals and other natural features. The walks are not strenuous but do include some trails. 

Reservations are required, and space is limited to 20 participants. Call (828) 733-4326 to reserve your space. Children must be 8 or older to participate. Programs are $15 for the general public and free for Bridge Club members.

Grandfather Mountain is located between Blowing Rock NC and Linville NC

All Aboard the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad for BBQ and Brews

June 27, 2015    Fontana Trestle Train BBQ and Brews   The Barbeque and Brews Dinner Trains feature locally hand-crafted beer from Heinzelmannchen Brewery and Nantahala Brewing Company. plus slow-cooked authentic North Carolina Barbeque. 

The train departs Bryson City NC Depot at 7 PM and travels through the scenic mountain countryside to the Fontana Trestle for a spectacular sunset. The base ticket prices from $69 (adults over 21 only) and includes a souvenir tasting glass with three beer samples and a meal of pulled pork, homemade coleslaw and apple pie. Additional beer will be available for purchase.

Fathers Day Weekend Events: WNC Highlands Celtic Festival

June 19 - 21, 2015   Annual WNC Highlands Celtic Festival   This event features Celtic music and dance by the Scottish tribal group Albannach, international supergroup Rathkeltair, the Southern Highlands' own Cutthroat Shamrock, plus Marcille Wallis & Friends, Stirling Bridge, My Three Kilts, the Montreat Scottish Pipes and Drums, and the Moynihan School of Irish Dance. 

There will also be authentic Celtic and Regional Foods and beer by Western North Carolina's first microbrewery, Highland Brewing Company. The Festival also includes Celtic Vendors, Highland Athletic Demonstrations, Border Collie Demonstrations, Clans Convening, and Dance Demonstrations. 

The event is held at the Asheville Outdoor Center on the banks of the French Broad River.Admission is $20 in advance and $25 at the gate.

Road Race this weekend in Nantahala

June 13 - 14, 2015   Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb   This is a Sports Car Club of America Time Trial event. Competition licensed drivers in prepared sports cars race one at a time up a 2 mile mountain road in class competition. 

The course is located near The Tail of the Dragon in beautiful Robbinsville NC and Graham County. The road race is on the edge of the Nantahala Forest where spectators, course workers and drivers enjoy some of North Carolina's most beautiful mountain scenery. 

Join the fun us as a driver, a worker, event staff or a spectator for a true southern tradition that began in the 50's: HILLCLIMB.
