Blue Ridge Parkway 75 Event: Mountain Street Dances in Waynesville

June 25   Mountain Street Dances  in downtown Waynesville North Carolina. Both local residents and tourists enjoy these FREE old-fashioned mountain hoedowns which began in the 1950s with live mountain music and dance demonstrations by local clogging teams. This year we are celebrating the Blue Ridge Parkway’s 75th Anniversary. Dances are held in front of the Haywood County Courthouse and begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until 9:00 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket; limited bleacher seating is available. Father's Day Event: Dad’s Big Pork Chop Dinner in Robbinsville

June 19, The Stechao Valley Arts Center, Robbinsville North Carolina.  A theatrical performance, mountain dulcimers, and a Father’s Day Dinner pack the schedule for Dad’s Big Pork Chop Dinner. The Stecoah Kitchen is now taking reservations for the Dinner served family-style in two seatings (5:00 and 6:15 pm). The menu features salad, pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy, cole slaw, corn, oven-fried squash, biscuits, and black forest chocolate cake. The Stecoah Kitchen prides itself in serving freshly prepared locally grown food. Reservations are required. Pricing for adults is $14.95, students (k-12) is $11.95, and children 4 and under is $7.95. Prices do not include tax or gratuity.

A one-man play tops off the evening at the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center in the historic auditorium. The performance titled “The Prince of Dark Corners” was written by noted playwright and storyteller Gary Carden of Dillsboro , NC . Steve Brady portrays the life and times of the Carolina outlaw, Major Lewis Redmond who was born in 1864 in Swain County . Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $5 for students (K-12), and children five and under are free. The performance begins at 7:30 pm.

A Night Under the Stars at Chimney Rock
